What’s New in Shinydrive: New Features for Shinydrive Client 1.5.2.4 and Shinydrive Server 2.4.2 available here.

Content Server 10 Support Deprecated:

Note that as of our Dec 18, 2018 release, we are no longer updating our Content Server “Shinydrive Service” Module for CS 10. Note that CS 10.5 and CS 16.s will continue to be supported.

v2 Shinydrive Server: 2.4.2

  • Support for Documentum Properties: Users can now view and edit Documentum file and folder properties in the Shinydrive Web App and Client. These can accessed by the dropdown icon in the web app or by right-click > Records Management > Properties in Shinydrive for Windows (Ref: SD-2753)
  • Bug Fix: Fixed an issue specific to Content Server 16.x where for .msg files, depending on what other Content Server Modules are installed (RM in particular), copying or moving a .msg file into Shinydrive generated a SOAP error when updating the node owner. Note that if you are not using RM and have no issues with moving or copying .msg files, you likely do not need to upgrade your Content Server Module for this fix. (Ref: SD-3073)
  • Bug Fix: Fixed an issue where you were redirected to the Shinydrive Web-app login screen when your HPEL session expired. (Ref: SD-3453)
  • Bug Fix: Fixed an issue that could cause issues when the HPEL “Show More” button was clicked, if you were logged into the HPEL Web-app with a domain username (“domain\username”). (Ref: SD-3483)
  • Bug Fix: Fixed an issue with empty category attribute values for HPEL synchronizations. (Ref: SD-3590)

Content Server Module (CS 16.x): 1.4.15

  • Bug Fix: Fixed an issue specific to Content Server 16.x where for .msg files, depending on what other Content Server Modules are installed (RM in particular), copying or moving a .msg file into Shinydrive generated a SOAP error when updating the node owner. Note that if you are not using RM and have no issues with moving or copying .msg files, you likely do not need to upgrade your Content Server Module for this fix. (Ref: SD-3073)

Content Server HPEL Module (CS 10.5, CS 16.x): 1.0.4

  • HPEL Performance Boost: We have significantly improved the speed of creating an external index for HPEL (High Performance Enterprise Library) by bypassing CWS and going direct to the Content Server database via a new Module. This performance gain was significant (and necessary) for parent folders with many children (on the order of 500,000 children) (Ref: SD-3421, SD-3423, SD-3425, SD-3427, SD-3429, SD-3431)
  • HPEL Performance Boost for Content Server 16.x: The initial HPEL Performance Boost was developed specifically for Content Server 10.5. This feature was to port all functionality to Content Server 16.4 (SD-3574)

Windows Client Version: 1.5.2.4

  • Robust Handling for Local Cache: Numerous improvements have been made the local cache experience better for Shinydrive users, with regard to retries; we improved the icon for offline files and made the taskbar messages “Shinydrive is now online!” a little more visible. (Ref: SD-3324, SD-3527, SD-3499, SD-3549).
  • Automatic Retry (for Pending Items) on Connecting: When Shinydrive starts up or on a regular basis it will attempt to retry items on the Pending Items List (and note that we have renamed this to Pending Items – used to be Retry Items). So, generally speaking if a given document or documents fail to upload to your ECM, Shinydrive will retry these for you in the background until they succeed. (Ref: SD-3409)
  • Improved Handling of Uploads when Shinydrive is Closed, or Network Connection is lost: When Shinydrive is closed during a file upload to your ECM this is now better handled, with the upload continuing when you next connect to your ECM. (Ref: SD-3410, SD-3485, SD-3488)
  • Progress Bar for Uploads: When Shinydrive is uploading a large file, or a large number of files, these are now listed on our Pending Changes dialog, accessible from the Shinydrive Task Bar. For each of these, a progress bar is displayed so the status of these uploads to your ECM can be better tracked, if desired. (Ref: SD-3466)
  • Improved Handling of Deleted Items for Content Server: Now when you delete a file in Shinydrive, we immediately Reserve the file on Content Server, then delete the file as normal after the Deleted Items Expiry time has passed. (Ref: SD-3476)
  • Notification when Shinydrive is Offline: While using Shinydrive if for any reason it goes offline, there is a toolbar popup notifying the user of this. (Ref: SD-3479)
  • Option to Save Locally If Unable to Save: If the event a given upload to your ECM fails, the user is prompted to save locally or just retry later. (Ref: SD-3526)
  • Notification when a File is added to Pending Items when Offline: In the event Shinydrive is Offline, and you attempt to upload files, you will now receive a notification when each file is added to the Pending Items list. (Ref: SD-3513)
  • Notification if ECM is not reachable: In the event that the ECM is not reachable, better notification is now provided to the user. (Ref: SD-3525)
  • Default Import Threads set to 1: Previously, Shinydrive shipped with the default Import Threads value set to 3. This can cause issues in certain configurations, so changing this default value to 1 as of this release. (Ref: 3568)

Unchanged: Shinydocs Drivers, Mac Client, Content Server Module (CS10.5), Livelink Module (LL9.7.1), Shinydrive Middleware (sd-csws.war, sd-llws.war), Shinydrive Office Add-In, Shinydrive Outlook Add-In, Shiny App Finder, Shiny Shutdown

  • Alternate Data Stream Handling: We improved the way Shinydrive’s cache handles files with Alternate Data Steam (ADS). (SD-3395)

June 30, 2018:

v2 Shinydrive Server: 2.3.1.1

  • Huge File Support: Shinydrive now supports huge files! Regardless of the size of a given file, you can now upload or access the file via Shinydrive. Note that your ECM system (e.g.: Content Server, Documentum) must first be configured to natively support huge files. Once this is done and confirmed to be working correctly, Shinydrive will also support them. For assistance configuring your ECM for huge files, please contact your ECM vendor. (Ref: SD-1145)
    • Note that when dealing with huge files (e.g.: 2 GB, 4 GB, …) you may notice delays when you drag-and-drop a huge file into Shinydrive. While it will appear in your Shinydrive right away, it may not finish uploading to your ECM for a few minutes (depending on the size of the file, the speed of your network/ECM, etc.) and will have a red warning on the Shinydrive entry until the upload is complete. Also note that if you have a Windows Explorer Preview Pane enabled (or anything else that must read the contents of a file), when a huge file is encountered, Shinydrive may be unresponsive until the entire file is downloaded to your cache.
  • Bug Fix: Fixed an issue with regard to Categories & Attributes, specifically for .msg files in certain circumstances. (Ref: SD-3100)
  • Bug Fix: Fixed an issue where the checkbox for Shortcuts/Aliases did not remain checked in some cases (and thus Shortcut support was not working correctly). (Ref: SD-3110)

  • Bug Fix: Fixed an issue with Shinydrive browsing performance in certain circumstances. (Ref: SD-3086)
  • Known Issue: Note that for Shinydrive Desktop Import, you may see an issue when importing into Content Server (the import may lock up). If you see this issue, set the Windows Registry Key DWORD (32-bit): HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\shinydrive\ImportUploadThreads to 1 and restart Shinydrive. Shinydrive Desktop Importing will now work correctly.

Unchanged: Shinydocs Drivers, Content Server Module (CS10, CS10.5, CS16.x), Livelink Module (LL9.7.1), Shinydrive Middleware (sd-csws.war, sd-llws.war), Mac Client, Shinydrive Office Add-In, Shinydrive Outlook Add-In, Shiny App Finder, Shiny Shutdown
